Ten public holidays
The Saskatchewan Employment Act lists New Year’s Day, Family Day on the third Monday of February, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Saskatchewan Day on the first Monday of August, Labour Day, Thanksgiving, Remembrance Day and Christmas Day. They print in red on the 2027 calendar, the table under this text lists them, and the page moves on to the next year in September.
The Sunday rule
Saskatchewan moves only three holidays, and only for businesses that are normally closed on Sundays: when New Year’s Day, Remembrance Day or Christmas Day falls on a Sunday, the following Monday is observed instead. Because it depends on the workplace, the calendar marks those Mondays in grey rather than red, so they’re visible without claiming everyone gets them; the next is Monday 12 November 2029. A holiday that falls on a Saturday stays where it is, and Canada Day on a Sunday moves to 2 July for everyone.
What isn’t a holiday
Easter Monday and Boxing Day are common days off but not public holidays in Saskatchewan, and 30 September applies only to federally regulated employers such as banks and airlines. The province’s employment standards pages explain who qualifies for public holiday pay and how it’s worked out.
Other calendars
Federally regulated workplaces follow the Canada calendar; neighbouring Alberta and Manitoba have their own pages. The calendar maker does any other range.
