Manitoba Calendar 2027 with General Holidays

Manitoba’s general holidays

The Employment Standards Code lists nine: New Year’s Day, Louis Riel Day on the third Monday of February, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Labour Day, Orange Shirt Day on 30 September, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. The province publishes a table of the dates a few years ahead, and the calendar’s red days for 2027 match it. The table under this text lists each holiday, and the page moves on to the next year in September.

The next workday off

Manitoba is one of the few provinces that names the substitute day. When a general holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday that an employee doesn’t normally work, the next regular workday is the day off with general holiday pay. For a Monday-to-Friday worker that’s the following Monday, which the calendar marks as a day off in lieu, as on Monday 27 December 2027 for a Saturday Christmas. Shift workers’ days differ, so check your schedule.

Pay without a waiting period

Unlike most provinces, Manitoba doesn’t require a minimum length of employment before general holiday pay: the time an employee has worked doesn’t affect the entitlement. Easter Sunday, Boxing Day and Terry Fox Day in August are not general holidays, although many employers give Boxing Day off.

Other calendars

Federally regulated workplaces follow the Canada calendar, and neighbouring Saskatchewan and Ontario have pages of their own. The calendar maker prints any range.
