ACT Calendar 2027 with Public Holidays

The ACT’s holidays

Under the Holidays Act 1958 the ACT keeps New Year’s Day, Australia Day, Canberra Day on the second Monday in March, Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Easter Sunday, Easter Monday, Anzac Day, Reconciliation Day, the King’s Birthday on the second Monday in June, Labour Day on the first Monday in October, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. The calendar prints them in red on A4 with Monday-first weeks, lists 2027 in the table under this text and switches to the next year in September.

Two days of its own

Canberra Day and Reconciliation Day are kept nowhere else. Canberra Day falls in the week of the city’s naming, 12 March 1913, and Reconciliation Day on the Monday after 27 May, the date of the 1967 referendum, at the start of National Reconciliation Week. The King’s Birthday follows one or two weeks later, so Canberra gets two long weekends close together every winter.

Weekends and declarations

A weekend New Year’s Day, Christmas Day or Boxing Day keeps its date and adds a weekday; Australia Day moves to the Monday. Anzac Day is where the ACT follows its neighbour: the government declared extra days for 2026, to match New South Wales, and again for 2027, and the calendar prints both. If a later year’s Saturday Anzac Day gets one, the calendar will show it once it’s declared; until then, only the Saturday is marked.

Other calendars

Many Canberrans work across the border: the New South Wales calendar has its list, the Australia calendar has the other states and territories, and the calendar maker any other range.
