What’s on the calendar
The major holidays and the most observed minor ones, each on the first full day: Tu BiShvat, Purim, the first and last days of Passover, Yom HaShoah, Yom HaZikaron and Yom HaAtzma’ut, Lag BaOmer, Shavuot, Tisha B’Av, both days of Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, the first day of Sukkot, Shemini Atzeret, Simchat Torah and the first day of Hanukkah. The table under this text adds each holiday’s Hebrew date and the evening it begins. The page opens on January to December 2027 and moves on to the next year in September.
The dates that move by law
Three days follow Israeli law rather than the Hebrew date alone. Yom HaShoah is 27 Nisan, moved to Thursday when that is a Friday and to Monday when it is a Sunday. Yom HaZikaron and Yom HaAtzma’ut, 4 and 5 Iyar, are brought forward to Wednesday and Thursday when they would touch the Sabbath, and moved to Tuesday and Wednesday when Yom HaAtzma’ut would fall on a Monday, a rule in force since 2004. Tisha B’Av, 9 Av, is kept on Sunday when it falls on a Sabbath.
Planning around the holidays
For a school, office or family calendar, the holidays to plan around are the ones on which work is traditionally avoided: Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, the first days and last days of Sukkot and Passover, and Shavuot. Since each begins the evening before, plan for an early finish the day before as well. Tick Moon phases to see how the months follow the moon: Rosh Hashanah falls near a new moon, and Sukkot and Passover begin near a full moon.

Add your country’s public holidays under Holidays; the US holidays calendar lists which days offices and banks close. The moon phase calendar prints every phase, and the calendar maker prints any other range.
Jewish holidays in 2027
Every holiday begins at sundown on the evening before the date shown and ends at nightfall. Dates follow the diaspora; in Israel, Passover ends a day earlier, Shavuot is one day and the first festival day of Sukkot is one day, not two.
