Voice Changer: Record or Upload, Pick a Voice

Record a few words or open a file, try 15 voices on it, from robot and chipmunk to cave and radio, and download the result. It all runs on your device.

1. Your voice

0:00
Plays your changed voice live for as long as this tab stays open, for example into a virtual audio cable for Discord. Nothing is recorded.

Live listening runs about 45 ms behind your voice, plus your device's own output delay. Recordings stay in this tab, with the microphone's raw sound (no automatic volume or noise filtering), so you can try every voice on the same take.

2. Pick a voice

Fine-tune: pitch, formant, echo, reverb, distortion, volume

How to change your voice

  1. Record or upload. Press Start recording, allow the microphone and say something; press it again to stop. Or switch to Upload a file and pick an MP3, WAV, M4A or a video with sound.
  2. Pick a voice. The changed version plays straight away. Click another voice and it plays again, on the same recording.
  3. Fine-tune if you like: pitch, formant, echo, reverb, distortion and volume.
  4. Download the result as WAV or MP3, or share the voice settings with a friend so they can try it on their own voice.

The voices

VoiceWhat it does
RobotKeeps the words but flattens the melody into a steady buzz, like a vocoder.
ChipmunkPitch and formants up 7 semitones: higher and smaller, like a cartoon.
Deep, MonsterPitch down 5 or 9 semitones with the formants lowered less, so it sounds big rather than slowed down. Monster adds grit and a little room.
Higher, Lower voiceA moderate shift of pitch and formants, for a lighter or a heavier voice.
HeliumFormants up, pitch unchanged: how helium really changes a voice.
AlienA ring modulator adds metallic sidebands, with a slight pitch rise and a short echo.
Echo, CaveRepeats a quarter of a second apart, or a long stone-room reverb with a late echo.
Radio, Telephone, MegaphoneBand-limited and distorted like a walkie-talkie, a phone line or a loudhailer.
Underwater, WhisperMuffled and wobbling; or breath without a tone.

Pitch and formants: why some voice changers sound fake

A voice has two separate parts. The pitch is the note of your vocal cords. The formants are the peaks your throat and mouth add on top, and they are what tells a listener whether a speaker is a child, an adult or a giant. Speeding up a recording raises both together, which is why it sounds like a chipmunk rather than like a different person.

This tool shifts them independently. It splits the sound into short overlapping slices, measures the smooth outline of each slice's spectrum (the formants), moves the fine harmonics (the pitch) and puts the outline back where you want it. That is why the Deep voice lowers the pitch by 5 semitones but the formants by only 3: the result sounds like a bigger person speaking, not a slowed-down tape. Under Fine-tune you can set both yourself.

Tips for a better result

  • Record close to the microphone in a quiet room. Background noise gets changed too, and reverb makes it louder.
  • Speak a little slower than usual for the big pitch shifts: fast consonants blur when the pitch moves far.
  • Robot and Whisper work best on clear speech; music and several voices at once turn into a wash.
  • If the result is too quiet or clips, move Volume. A result that would clip is turned down automatically.

Private by design

Your recording never leaves the browser tab. The effects run on your device with the Web Audio API, and the MP3 encoder is part of the page. A shared voice link carries only the settings, never your recording.

More for your microphone and audio: check how your mic sounds with the mic test, take the sound out of a video with extract audio, or turn a melody you sang into notes with audio to MIDI.
