British Columbia Calendar 2027 with Stat Holidays

BC’s eleven statutory holidays

New Year’s Day, Family Day on the third Monday of February, Good Friday, Victoria Day on the Monday before 25 May, Canada Day, British Columbia Day on the first Monday of August, Labour Day, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on 30 September, Thanksgiving on the second Monday of October, Remembrance Day and Christmas Day. The calendar marks each in red for 2027, and the table under this text lists them. The page moves on to the next year in September.

Weekends and pay

BC doesn’t move a statutory holiday that falls on a weekend. Under section 45 of the Employment Standards Act an eligible employee gets an average day’s pay for the holiday whether or not it falls on a scheduled day off, and time and a half for hours worked on it. An employer and employee can agree to substitute another day. So the calendar marks each holiday on its own date; for a Saturday or Sunday holiday, write in any day your employer gives instead.

What BC doesn’t count

Easter Monday and Boxing Day are statutory in some provinces but not in BC, and Easter Sunday is not one anywhere. BC’s Interpretation Act lists Easter Monday and 26 December as holidays for government offices and legal deadlines, which is why some offices close, but employers aren’t required to give them.

Other calendars

Banks, airlines and other federally regulated employers in B.C. follow the list on the Canada calendar, which also switches to any other province. Ontario, Quebec and Alberta each have a page of their own, and the calendar maker prints other ranges and layouts.
