What makes it large print

This isn’t the ordinary calendar with a zoom. The layout changes: the month and year print as one big bold heading with no small previous-and-next-month calendars beside it, the day numbers grow to fill about two-fifths of each box, and the numbers, grid lines and outer border print in near-black, with the grid lines more than twice as thick. Days from the neighbouring months are left out, so every number on the page belongs to that month. Holiday names print bold in near-black at 12 to 16 points at the foot of their box, and days off have their number in the holiday color (red on most themes).

Choosing paper and color

Bigger paper means bigger numbers: the table under this text lists the size of the numbers and boxes for each paper, from half-letter to A3. A print shop can print Tabloid or A3 cheaply, and a wall calendar that size can be read from across a room. Matte paper cuts glare. If colors blur together, choose Ink saver (black and white) under Color; if you prefer a soft color, the green, blue and charcoal themes keep strong contrast with white.

For carers and family

A large print calendar is a simple memory aid: mark appointments, visits and medication changes in thick felt-tip, one line per entry, and cross off each day. Printing one month at a time and hanging it at eye level near a light source helps more than a bigger font on a crowded page. Holidays follow your browser’s country, as on the main calendar maker; untick them under Holidays for a plainer page.

Other calendars

For more writing room at a normal size, open the calendar with lines or the 11 × 17 calendar. The calendar maker has every other option.
