Days off on the island

Manx bank holidays come from the Bank Holidays Act 1989, and the Treasury confirms each year’s dates in a notice on gov.im, usually the September before: the 2025 list appeared in September 2024 and the 2026 one in September 2025. Most of the year matches England, from New Year’s Day through Easter and the May and August Mondays to Christmas. What sets the island apart is two days of its own, one in June and one in July. This page opens on 2027, printed on A4 with weeks starting on Monday, and moves to the following year each September.

Tynwald Day

Tynwald Day is fixed to 5 July. When the date is a weekend, the bank holiday goes to the Monday, so the calendar marks the Sunday and the Monday that replaces it.

The TT Bank Holiday

This one falls during TT race week, and its date isn’t fixed: the Treasury picks it in each year’s notice. It was Friday 6 June in 2025 and Friday 5 June in 2026. For a year whose notice hasn’t come out, the table below says so instead of guessing a Friday, and the date is added once it’s published.

Christmas 2027

Christmas Day 2027 is a Saturday and Boxing Day a Sunday, so the weekday holidays are Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 December.

School terms

For a family planner, pick “Isle of Man schools” in the calendar maker. The Department of Education, Sport and Culture’s published dates cover September 2026 to July 2028, and it warns that dates can still move with the TT Festival, and that southern schools may shift days around the Southern 100.
