Asr
First day of Ramadan

A day earlier isn't expected: the new moon is at 15:56 UTC on Saturday 6 February, too young to be seen by eye that evening.

More options: Imsak, clock, high latitudes, adjust to your mosque

Only used where the sun doesn't go far enough below the horizon for the method's Fajr or Isha angle, or where it would put them unreasonably deep into the night (far north or south). Times it changes are underlined.

Adjust to match your mosque (minutes)

Ramadan begins when the new crescent moon is sighted, or on the date your community's calendar sets, so it can start a day later in some countries and mosques. Choose the first day your mosque or moon-sighting committee announces. These times are calculated: check them against your local mosque's timetable.

Suhoor and iftar in Toronto

Toronto is at 43.7° north, 3° further north than New York and well to its west on the same clock, so its suhoor and iftar both come later. With the ISNA convention, suhoor ends at 06:05 and iftar is at 17:38 on Monday 8 February 2027, a fast of 11 h 33 m; on day 30 they are 05:22 and 18:16, 12 h 54 m. The times are for central Toronto in Eastern Standard Time.

This page opens with the Islamic Society of North America convention, Fajr and Isha with the sun 15° below the horizon, and standard Asr. The Islamic Foundation of Toronto in Scarborough publishes a year-round timetable with its coordinates (43°39′ N, 79°23′ W) printed on it, which we typed in and compared for February and March: its Fajr is within a minute of 15°, its sunrise and Maghrib within a minute of ours, and its Asr is the Hanafi time. It also tells worshippers to finish eating a few minutes before Fajr. Switch Asr to Hanafi to match it, and add an Imsak column for that margin.

Two masjid calendars on Mawaqit, checked in September 2026, show the variations to expect. Hamza Masjid in Parkdale puts Fajr 2 to 3 minutes earlier and Maghrib 3 to 4 minutes after sunset, a precaution: set those under Adjust to match your mosque. The Muslim Association of Canada’s Masjid Toronto shows exactly the ISNA times, which may simply be Mawaqit’s own calculation rather than a local choice.

Start of the month in Canada

Canadian masjids don’t all begin on the same day. Those that go by a calculated calendar, such as the Fiqh Council of North America’s, which put the first fast of 2027 on 8 February when we checked in September 2026, can plan months ahead; those that wait for the crescent to be seen locally may start and end a day later. If yours announces Tuesday 9 February 2027, choose it under First day of Ramadan: every date in the table, the PDF and the calendar file moves with it.

Print the table on Letter paper for the fridge or the masjid notice board, or add all 60 suhoor and iftar times to your phone’s calendar, with a reminder before suhoor ends.
