Asr
First day of Ramadan

A day earlier isn't expected: the new moon is at 15:56 UTC on Saturday 6 February, too young to be seen by eye that evening.

More options: Imsak, clock, high latitudes, adjust to your mosque

Only used where the sun doesn't go far enough below the horizon for the method's Fajr or Isha angle, or where it would put them unreasonably deep into the night (far north or south). Times it changes are underlined.

Adjust to match your mosque (minutes)

Ramadan begins when the new crescent moon is sighted, or on the date your community's calendar sets, so it can start a day later in some countries and mosques. Choose the first day your mosque or moon-sighting committee announces. These times are calculated: check them against your local mosque's timetable.

Sehri and iftar in Blackburn

Blackburn is at 53.75° north on the western side of the Pennines, and its clock times run a few minutes behind the Yorkshire towns across the hills: about 3 minutes after the Bradford timetable for both sehri and iftar. Sehri ends at 05:44 and iftar is at 17:05 on Monday 8 February 2027; the last fast, 04:43 to 18:02, lasts 13 h 19 m against 11 h 21 m on the first day. British Summer Time starts after Eid, so every time is GMT.

Checked against Al-Berr’s timetable

This page opens with the Muslim World League convention: Fajr when the sun is 18° below the horizon and Isha at 17°, with standard Asr. We compared the table with the year-round prayer calendar Al-Berr in Blackburn publishes on Mawaqit, read for February and March and checked in September 2026:

  • Fajr agrees within two minutes on every day, the masjid’s time being the same or a little later.
  • Sunrise agrees to the minute.
  • Maghrib, and so iftar, is printed 3 to 4 minutes after sunset, a margin of safety. Set Maghrib to +3 or +4 under Adjust to match your mosque to add the same.
  • Asr is the standard (Shafi’i) time, 3 to 4 minutes before ours.
  • Isha is about 35 minutes earlier than the 17° time; set an Isha adjustment if you want the masjid’s time in your printout.

Not every masjid prints the same calendar, so check the first few days of yours against the table. A difference of a few minutes is a margin: adjust it. A difference of 15 minutes or more at Fajr is a different convention: try ISNA (15°) or the Moonsighting Committee as the method.

The start of the month

If your masjid begins Ramadan on Tuesday 9 February 2027, pick it under First day of Ramadan before you print, and every date moves by a day. The PDF fits one A4 page, and the calendar file puts 60 sehri and iftar reminders on your phone.
