Asr
First day of Ramadan

A day earlier isn't expected: the new moon is at 15:56 UTC on Saturday 6 February, too young to be seen by eye that evening.

More options: Imsak, clock, high latitudes, adjust to your mosque

Only used where the sun doesn't go far enough below the horizon for the method's Fajr or Isha angle, or where it would put them unreasonably deep into the night (far north or south). Times it changes are underlined.

Adjust to match your mosque (minutes)

Ramadan begins when the new crescent moon is sighted, or on the date your community's calendar sets, so it can start a day later in some countries and mosques. Choose the first day your mosque or moon-sighting committee announces. These times are calculated: check them against your local mosque's timetable.

Suhoor and iftar in Mombasa

Mombasa lies 4° south of the equator on the Indian Ocean, so its days barely change length through the year and Ramadan 2027 brings fasts of a little under thirteen and a half hours from the first day (13 h 27 m) to the last (13 h 18 m). Kenya keeps East Africa Time (UTC+3) all year.

How the times were checked

The table uses the Muslim World League convention (Fajr at 18°, Isha at 17°) with standard Asr, the Shafi’i reckoning. We looked for a timetable a Mombasa masjid or Islamic body publishes and found only one online, the year-round calendar on Masjid Hudaa’s Mawaqit page (checked in September 2026). It matches a plain calculation with Fajr and Isha at 18° within a minute or two on every day, with no margins, so it looks computed rather than set by the masjid, and we don’t take it as evidence of local practice. It does confirm the sun: sunrise and sunset agree with ours to the minute. If your masjid prints a later Isha, choose the University of Islamic Sciences, Karachi method, or set any difference under Adjust to match your mosque.

The rest of the coast

Mombasa’s iftar is 9 to 11 minutes ahead of the Nairobi timetable all month. Along the coast the sun sets earlier the further north-east you go: iftar in Lamu is about 7 minutes before Mombasa’s, while Kwale county to the south-west is within a minute of it. Jomvu, Matuga and Lamu each have their own entry in the tool’s town search. The start of Ramadan follows the moon sighting your masjid accepts; if it begins on Tuesday 9 February 2027, pick that under First day of Ramadan, then download the PDF or add the times to your phone’s calendar.
