Sehri and iftar in Leicester
Leicester sits in the middle of England, 1.1° north of London and 1° west of it, and its Ramadan 2027 times fall between London’s and those of northern cities such as Bradford: iftar is within a minute of the London timetable on the first day, at 17:03, and 4 minutes after it by day 30, at 17:58. With Fajr at 18°, the first fast lasts 11 h 25 m and the last 13 h 19 m. Every time is GMT: the clocks go forward only after Eid.
Two Fajr conventions in one city
Leicester’s masjid calendars don’t agree on Fajr, and the difference is large enough to matter. We compared the year-round calendars Leicester masjids publish on Mawaqit, read for February and March and checked in September 2026:
- Masjid Aisha and Markaz Quba (Islamic Centre) put Fajr within a minute of 15° below the horizon, the Islamic Society of North America convention, on every day. Masjid Aisha’s Maghrib is sunset itself; Markaz Quba prints it 4 to 5 minutes after sunset.
- Masjid Mu’adh Ibn Jabal puts Fajr about 20 minutes earlier, close to 18°.
- Hamidiya is in between, about 5 minutes before the 15° time.
These four agree with the sun: their sunrise is within a minute of ours. The other three Leicester calendars on Mawaqit have February Fajr times that don’t follow the sun from day to day (two of them have irregular sunrise times too), so we didn’t use them. The page opens with the Muslim World League convention (Fajr at 18°, Isha at 17°), the earliest end of sehri among them, so following it you never eat past any of these masjids’ Fajr. If your masjid uses 15°, choose ISNA as the method; for a margin like Markaz Quba’s, set Maghrib to +4 under Adjust to match your mosque. Standard Asr is on; choose Hanafi if your masjid prints the later time.
Printing it
Download the A4 PDF for the fridge, or add the times to your phone’s calendar: 30 sehri and 30 iftar events with reminders. If your masjid starts Ramadan on Tuesday 9 February 2027 rather than Monday 8 February 2027, choose that under First day of Ramadan first, so the dates on the printout are right.
