Taubmans paints, with their own tins
Taubmans EasyCoat is picked when this paint calculator opens, with the product page’s own wording, up to 16m2/litre, and its tins of 1, 2, 4, 10 and 15 litres. In the pre-set bedroom that means roughly 6 litres over walls and ceiling for two coats, covered by one 4, one 2 and one 1 litre tin.
Pure Performance Interior Walls, Ceiling White, All Weather Exterior and Sunproof Exterior are also in the menu. Ceiling White comes in 2, 4 and 10 litres, and Pure Performance Low Sheen from 4 litres up, so the tin plan changes as you switch.
Prepcoat first on new surfaces
Taubmans recommends one coat of prepcoat and then two coats of topcoat where a surface needs preparing, such as new plasterboard. Tick Primer first, type the prepcoat’s coverage from its tin, and it gets a line of its own, with the topcoat still at two coats.
A figure you can round
Taubmans’ own calculator rounds its results up to the nearest litre. This one shows the exact litres, then the tin mix that leaves the smallest amount over and how much that is, so you can see whether a spare litre tin is worth it.
