Dulux paints, already set up

The paint calculator below starts on Dulux Matt. Dulux’s figure for it, up to 14 m² per litre, is already in the coverage box, and the can sizes offered are the tins Dulux lists for it, from 2.5 to 10 litres. Pick another Dulux paint from the same menu and both change with it. The range here is the one on dulux.co.uk; the table under this text lists each paint with a link to its page, and what the calculator’s starting room takes in it.

Type the length, width and height of every room, set its doors and windows, and read the result: the litres of paint and the mix of Dulux tins with the least left over.

About Dulux’s coverage figures

Dulux quotes coverage as “up to”, which is what a smooth, sound, previously painted wall gets. Its product pages add that actual coverage depends on the surface, and that a strong colour change may need more coats. If you are covering a dark colour, bare plaster or patched walls, lower the coverage figure in the box a little or add a coat; the tins update as you type.

Simply Refresh One Coat Matt is the exception to two coats. Picking it sets Coats to 1, because Dulux sells it as a one-coat paint, but its instructions spread no more than 0.5 m² per roller load, and Pure Brilliant White over dark colours may need another coat.

Ceilings and outside walls

For ceilings, Magic White Matt goes on pink and fades to white, which makes missed patches easy to see. Outside, switch to House exterior and the calculator moves to Weathershield smooth masonry paint; if your render is rough or pebbledashed, pick the textured version instead, since Dulux rates it far lower per litre.
