Square feet in, litres out

Asian Paints quotes coverage in square feet per litre and sells paint in litre packs, so this paint calculator opens in Feet · litres: room sizes in feet, coverage in sq ft per litre, and the result in litres. The starting paint is Royale Luxury Emulsion at 270 sq ft per litre per coat, the low end of the one-coat figure on its product information sheet, bought in the 0.5, 1, 4, 10 and 20 litre packs on its product page.

Apcolite Premium Emulsion and Tractor Emulsion are the other interior paints in the menu; Apex Ultima, Apex Advanced Dust Proof and Ace Exterior Emulsion are there for outside walls.

One coat or two in the figures

The interior sheets print two figures, one for a single coat and one for two coats: Royale is 270–310 for one coat and 140–160 for two. They describe the same paint; the two-coat figure is how much wall one litre finishes when it is applied twice. The calculator always works per coat and multiplies by Coats, so leave Coats at 2 and the result matches the two-coat line. The exterior sheets give the two-coat figure only, and the calculator doubles it to a per-coat rate.

Extra coats on ledges and deep shades

Asian Paints says actual coverage may vary with the method and condition of application and with surface roughness and porosity. For Ace Exterior Emulsion it asks for 3 coats on horizontal surfaces such as the tops of windows and ledges, and notes that some shades may need a third coat.
