Boysen paints and cans
Boysen Permacoat Latex is the paint the paint calculator begins with. Boysen rates it at 30–35 square meters per 4-liter can as a topcoat; the low end works out at 7.5 m² per liter, and the cans are the 1, 4 and 16 liter sizes listed on its page. The pre-filled bedroom comes to about 13 liters when walls and ceiling get two coats: three 4-liter cans and one 1-liter can.
Healthy Home and KNOxOUT for interiors, and Wallguard and Acrytex for outside walls, are in the same menu. Healthy Home and KNOxOUT come in 4-liter cans only.
Primer is the first coat
In Boysen’s painting schedules the primer is counted as coat one, and the finish paint goes on as the 2nd and 3rd coats. This calculator counts topcoats only: leave Coats at 2 and tick Primer first for the primer; Permacoat Flat used as a primer covers 25–30 m² per 4 liters.
Plain or textured Acrytex
Acrytex is rated at 25–30 m² per 4 liters for a plain finish and only 15–18 for a textured one. The calculator uses the plain figure; for a textured finish type 3.75 (15 ÷ 4) into the coverage box. New concrete should dry for 14 to 28 days before it is painted, Boysen notes, so plan the order for after that.

Two coats. Rooms: 4 × 3.5 m room with 2.5 m walls, one door, one window, walls and ceiling (ceiling only for a ceiling paint). Outside: 8 × 10 m house with 5.2 m walls and two gables.
