Plascon’s range, loaded in

Plascon Double Velvet is the starting paint in this paint calculator, at the 12 sqm per litre its product page shows, and the tins are the 1, 5 and 20 litre sizes in its data sheet. Walls and ceiling of the starting bedroom need roughly 8 litres for two coats, which works out as one 5 litre tin with four 1 litre tins.

Cashmere, Super Acrylic Polvin, the One Coat ceiling paint, Wall & All and Micatex are in the Paint menu as well.

Page figure or data sheet figure

Plascon shows one spread rate on each product page and a slightly different one in the data sheet: 12 against 12.7 for Double Velvet, 11 against 11.7 for Cashmere, 12 against a range of 10 to 12 for Wall & All. Where they differ the calculator takes the lower, and the line under the coverage box shows both. The data sheet figures are measured at a stated film thickness on a smooth surface, which a real wall rarely is.

Smooth or textured outside

Wall & All is a smooth exterior finish; Plascon says it spreads twice as far as textured paints. Micatex is textured, at 4 to 6 sqm per litre. Plascon asks for two or more coats of either to get complete obliteration, so keep Coats at 2 and compare the two on your own walls.
