York’s double rolls
Through this link the wallpaper calculator runs in feet on York’s 27 by 27 double roll, with Gracie from the Rifle Paper Co. line (27 in repeat, drop match), in a 12 ft square bedroom. Counts come out in doubles, the unit York sells.
Wider paper means fewer widths: 22 here instead of 29 on 20.5 in stock. But the roll is 27 ft rather than 33, and the drop match stretches each 8 ft length to 121.5 in, so a double gives only two and the room takes 11. Paper 20.5 in wide on a 33 ft bolt, repeating straight every 20.5 in, would do the same room in 10. Compare both: choose the size in the roll menu and alter the repeat.
Checking York’s figures
York lists roll size, repeat and match under Features on each product, along with whether it’s pre-pasted or unpasted. Gracie is an unpasted non-woven, so choose a paste; pre-pasted papers need none. Enter your design, read the lengths per roll in the working, and check every roll shows the same batch number before you start cutting. If a room has several walls at different heights, switch to Walls and add them one by one; lengths for the lower walls often come out of the ends left by the taller ones.
York papers in the calculator
A 12 × 12 ft room with 8 ft walls, one 32 × 80 in door and one 3 × 4 ft window, 4 in trim a drop, each paper on its own roll. The first one is what the calculator above starts with.
