Photowall recommends 6–10 cm (2.5–4 in) extra on the width and the height for walls that aren't straight. Graham & Brown print made-to-measure murals in 50 cm (19.6 in) strips; check your maker's strip width.

Batch numbers. Rolls printed together share a batch number on the label; rolls from different batches can differ slightly in colour. Buy every roll at once, check the numbers match before you cut, and keep the label.

An estimate for planning. Sloping ceilings, stairwells and walls out of square take more paper: ask your decorator to check before you order.

Anaglypta’s rolls and repeats

Following this link, the wallpaper calculator comes up with Anaglypta’s 0.52 × 10.05 m roll and Westminster, a rustic plaster pattern listed at 53.4 cm straight. Anaglypta papers are sold as a surface for paint, so there’s no colour to line up, but the raised design still has to meet at each seam: use the repeat and match from your design’s page.

Three Anaglypta papers go into the same room in the table. Westminster and Kingston both cut to 2.67 m on a 2.4 m wall, which is five and ten repeats respectively, and each roll yields three. Brooke, a fine weave without a match, cuts to 2.5 m and yields four, saving two rolls over the patterned pair.

Painting it afterwards

Anaglypta packs twelve rolls per carton, so a bigger job may arrive as a full box plus singles: ask for all of them from one batch. Anaglypta recommends a good-quality ready-mixed adhesive, such as its own, for relief papers; choose the paste line that matches your tub. Once it’s up, the paint calculator gives the emulsion for those walls. Anaglypta also notes that unpainted batches can differ a touch in shade and that two coats usually cover it.
