Papering a single wall
Here the wallpaper calculator opens in Walls mode with a single 3.6 × 2.4 m wall and nothing cut out of it. Replace the size with yours, give it a door or a window if it has one, and set the roll and the design from the label.
A lone wall is where square metres mislead the most. That example is only 8.6 m², well under two rolls on paper, yet it needs seven widths and each roll gives three whole lengths, so you buy three and keep a decent offcut. The working under the result goes through this, and the tables below list common wall sizes, metric on Euro rolls and imperial on US double rolls.
Chimney breasts, alcoves and a wall with a window
List each face of a chimney breast, or each alcove, as a wall of its own. The calculator counts the strips for each and fits them into rolls together, so a leftover from one can cover another where it’s long enough. If there’s a window, put in its width, height and sill: lengths that sit completely over the glass are shortened, and the bits above and below come out of offcuts.
Painting the other three walls? The paint calculator has a one-wall mode too.
Rolls for one wall
A wall with no door or window, a straight repeat as wide as the roll (53 cm, or 20.5 in), 10 cm (4 in) trim a drop. Open puts that wall in the calculator above.
