Rooms worked out in advance
Each row in the charts is an ordinary room with a door and a window, counted the way a paperhanger cuts it: the distance round the room over the width of the paper gives the strips, a strip is the ceiling height plus trim lengthened to the design, and a roll delivers a whole number of them. The metric chart uses 2.4 m ceilings and 53 cm Euro rolls; the imperial one uses 8 ft ceilings and 20.5 in × 33 ft bolts.
Every size is shown for two kinds of paper: a plain one that needs no matching, and one whose straight repeat equals its width, which is very common. The flat square-metre estimate sits alongside for comparison. Higher ceilings, a bigger motif or a half drop all change the answer, so press Open on the closest row and adjust it in the wallpaper calculator, which here begins on a 10 × 10 ft bedroom.
When your room isn’t in the chart
Measure round the room at skirting level and the ceiling at its highest point. An L-shaped room has as much wall as the box that encloses it, so its overall length and width work as they are; for anything more awkward, enter the walls one at a time in Walls mode. A room you drew in the room planner can be pulled straight in, doors and windows included.
Wallpaper by room size
Each room has one door and one window. Rolls for a straight repeat as wide as the roll and for a free match, with the area method for comparison. Open loads the room into the calculator, where you can change the pattern and the roll.
