A rotating-partner round robin turns a group of individual players into a doubles event without fixed teams: each round, every player gets a new partner. The page starts with eight players on two courts, the most common club-night size: seven rounds, two games a round, and every pair of players partnered exactly once.
Setting it up for your group
Type the players, one per line, in any order, or set the number and use Player 1, Player 2… for a sheet you fill in by hand. Put the number of courts you have in At the same time. If there are more players than the courts can hold, the generator sits the extra players out round by round, always choosing those who have played most, so the games even out over the session. With 12 players on two courts, four sit out each round and everyone plays every round but one in three. To play a shorter or longer session, change Rounds: the default is a full rotation, where everyone has partnered everyone once when the court count allows it.
Entering scores and reading the ranking
Under each game, type the two scores when it ends, for example 11 and 7. Both partners get the result: a win for one pair is a win for each of its players. The ranking counts wins first, because a win is worth 1 point and a loss 0. Ties go to point difference, then points won, which rewards close losses over blowouts. Open By player to see one player’s partners, opponents, courts and results round by round.
Running the session
Read out round 1 from the screen or the printout, start all courts together, and enter scores as games finish. When the last game of a round is in, call the next round: the printed sheet shows each round’s court for every pair, and the Sitting out line says who rests. At the end, Share result sends the final ranking to the group as a link.
