How to make a Wi-Fi sign
- Replace the example network name with yours, exactly as phones list it, including capitals and spaces.
- Choose the security type and type the password. For an open network, choose None.
- Keep or change the caption on the plate (FREE WI-FI, GUEST WI-FI, the network’s name) and the 📶 in the middle.
- Check the scan test, then download the STL or the 3MF. The print guide gives the layer for a filament change if you print it in two colors on one nozzle.
Where a Wi-Fi sign works best
On a counter, a bedside table in a rental or at a reception desk, a sign that stands out gets scanned instead of asked about. A 3D printed one survives being wiped and handled, which paper cards don’t. At 100 mm wide, the code reads from about a metre away; for a wall across a room, print it bigger.
The code is built in the WIFI: format phones understand, with the special characters (backslash, semicolon, comma, quote and colon) escaped for you, so a password with a semicolon still works. Before printing, scan the preview on screen with the QR code view to be sure the phone joins.
For rentals, print one sign per room with the same network, so guests never have to ask.
