Using the food wheel
The wheel opens with twelve common dinners. Press Spin and whatever it lands on is tonight’s plan. It’s built for the moment when everyone says “I don’t mind” and nobody picks: the wheel picks, and people find out quickly whether they minded after all.
Make it your own list
The default list is a starting point. Some lists that work well:
- Takeout night: the restaurants you actually order from, by name.
- Cook at home: meals you can make with what’s usually in the cupboard, so the result never means a shopping trip.
- Meal planning: a week’s worth of recipes; hide each one once it’s drawn and spin seven times on Sunday for the whole week’s plan.
- Lunch at work: the places within walking distance of the office.
Paste a list from your notes app: one line per option. To keep your list, use the main wheel spinner, which remembers what you typed, or Share result, which makes a link to your wheel and its answer that you can send to the group chat.
Fair rules for groups
A wheel settles arguments only if everyone agrees to the rules before it spins. Two common ones: each person may add one dish, and each person gets one veto per night. If someone’s dietary needs rule out a dish, take it off the wheel rather than vetoing it every time. For bigger group decisions, such as who chooses the restaurant, put people’s names on the wheel instead and let the winner decide.
Weighting the odds
Weights change how wide a slice is. Soup *2 doubles its chance, and Pizza *0.5 halves it, which is handy if pizza already wins more often than it should. The slices on the wheel show the weights, so everyone can see the odds before the spin.
