What this page sets up
The each way tab opens with a single: 10 each way at 10/1, with 1/5 the odds for a place, and the selection finishing placed but not winning. The bet costs 20, the win part loses and the place part pays at 2/1, returning 30. Change the result to Won to see both parts pay, pick a double, treble or bigger bet in Bet, and set the place terms your bookmaker offers for the race.
Place terms
In UK and Irish horse racing the standard terms depend on the race. The table under this text lists them as one bookmaker’s rules state them; many bookmakers pay extra places on selected races, so check the terms on your bet slip. Races with fewer than five runners are usually win only.
Reading the result
The top figure is what the bet returns, stakes included, and the line under it gives the total staked and the profit or loss. The breakdown shows the win and place parts separately, so you can see what a placed-only finish is worth. Maths only: no bookmaker bonuses or Rule 4 deductions are applied. For a multiple, each selection’s result counts separately: a double where one selection won and the other only placed returns the place part alone.
