How many days until your birthday?
Choose the month and the day, and the page answers in a sentence (“Your birthday is in 43 days”) above a live clock of days, hours, minutes and seconds. There is no year to enter: a birthday comes round every year, so the page always aims at the next one and starts again the day after. On the day itself it says so and shows how long since midnight.
Type a name in Whose birthday to follow someone else’s: the sentence then reads “Mia’s birthday is in…”. The month, day and name are remembered in this browser only, separate from any other countdown you keep on this site.
Sleeps for children
Young children understand “sleeps” better than days, so this page opens with the sleeps left under the clock: the number of nights until the birthday morning. Put the page in Full screen on a tablet and it makes a good morning ritual in the weeks before a party.
Leap-day birthdays
People born on February 29 have a real birthday only every four years. In other years this countdown runs to February 28. If your family celebrates on March 1, pick March 1 instead.
Sharing a birthday countdown
Share result makes a link with just the month and the day. Tick Include the name in a shared link if you want the name to travel too; it then appears in the dialog the other person sees. Grandparents abroad see the time left to the same morning in their own zone.
