How long until summer?
This page counts down to the first day of summer in the Northern Hemisphere: the June solstice, the longest day of the year north of the equator. In 2027 it falls on Monday, June 21, 2027, at 14:11 Universal Time. The sentence above the clock gives the whole days to go, the clock itself ticks down to 00:00 on that date in your own time zone, and with Working days left ticked, a line under it counts the Monday-to-Friday days in between.
The solstice dates come from the IMCCE’s published table of June solstices, by date in Universal Time. After this one, the next is Tuesday, June 20, 2028.
Summer break, not the solstice?
For most students “summer” starts with the last day of school, which differs by district and country. Type your last day into the Date box and a name like “Summer break” into the Name box, and the countdown, the sentence and the share link all switch to it. The working-days count is the closest thing to “school days left”; subtract any holidays, teacher days or exam days on your school calendar.
If you go by the weather, many weather services count summer as June, July and August, so their summer starts on June 1. Type that date instead.
Put it on a screen or share it
Press Full screen to put the clock on a classroom board or a TV, or share the countdown as a link: whoever opens it sees the same date counting down in their own time zone. A teacher can also put it on a class page with the embed code under the tool.
Other countdowns
The countdown also has pages for Halloween, Christmas and your birthday, and the online timer counts down minutes and hours.
