Rain, ready to play
Press Play. You hear steady rain drumming on a roof, recorded for real, and underneath it a low bed of brown noise, like a downpour heard from inside. The rain downloads once when you first play it; the brown noise is generated live in your browser and never repeats.
The rain on this page is mixed at 70% with brown noise at 20%. Move the sliders to change the balance: less brown noise for a lighter shower, more for a heavy downpour. Turn Tone down if the rain feels too crisp; it takes the edge off the drops and makes the whole sound softer.
Make it your kind of rain
- Rainy night: add night crickets at a low level and a little wind.
- Cabin: add the campfire for rain outside and a fire crackling inside.
- Storm: raise the brown noise and add wind.
- Light drizzle: switch the brown noise off and turn the rain down.
For sleeping
Set a sleep timer and a fade, keep the volume low, and put your device somewhere it won’t light up the room. Rain keeps playing in a background tab. Phones may stop web page sound when the screen locks, so keep the screen on and dimmed. The same rain plays under the meditation timer and the breathing exercise if you want it there too.
