Ten minutes, two bells
This page is a plain, silent sit. Press Start, take the 10 seconds of settling in to get comfortable, and the singing bowl rings three times. Then nothing: no voice, no music, no ticking. At 10:00 the bowl rings three times again and the session is added to Your practice.
The Aurora scene drifts slowly behind the countdown. If you meditate with your eyes open, a soft gaze on moving light can be easier to rest on than a blank screen. With eyes closed, it doesn’t matter what is on screen, and you can hide the clock under Timer so you aren’t tempted to check it.
Ten minutes is a common daily length
Ten minutes is long enough for the mind to settle past the first few restless minutes, and short enough to fit into most days. It is also a common step up from five-minute sessions. Whatever technique you use, whether following the breath, repeating a word or simply sitting, this timer only keeps time.
Small additions
Under Soundscape, rain, ocean waves or a stream can cover household noise, fading in at the start and out after the last bell. Under Bells, pick a temple bell, a gong or a tingsha instead of the bowl, change the number of strikes, or add a quiet interval bell halfway. After a session, Share result gives someone you meditate with the same bells and timer.
