Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam Test

Measures both of the C922's modes, 1080p at 30 fps and 720p at 60 fps, and shows whether your room is bright enough to hold 60.

Set up for the Logitech C922 Pro Stream: opens the camera at 1920×1080 at 30 fps and checks the other modes the maker lists too: 1280×720 at 60 fps.

The C922’s two modes

Logitech lists the C922 Pro Stream as full 1080p at 30 fps or HD 720p at 60 fps, with a glass lens with autofocus, a 78° diagonal field of view and two omnidirectional microphones. The table above holds both modes. The page opens the camera at 1080p and 30 fps and measures it; press Check on the 720p row to switch to 60 fps and measure again.

Why 60 fps is the one that fails

At 60 frames a second, each frame can be exposed for at most a sixtieth of a second. In a dim room the camera wants a longer exposure, so it either stays dark or drops frames, and Logitech ties the C922’s 60 fps problems to light and to a setting called Low Light Compensation. Its guide to keeping a constant 720p/60fps says:

  • Light your space to more than 300 lux, with lights behind the camera pointing at you, not behind you: a key light for most of the light and a fill light to soften shadows.
  • If 60 fps still won’t hold, turn off Low Light Compensation in the camera’s advanced settings.

Watch the 720p row while you add light: ≈ slower than listed turning into ✓ is the lighting doing its job. The quality score below the preview grades the same light from the picture itself.

Setting up OBS

Logitech’s OBS Studio guide sets the video capture device to a custom resolution of 1280×720 at 60 FPS in the MJPEG video format. If this page reaches 60 fps and OBS doesn’t, the difference is in those settings, not in the camera. Close this tab first: on Windows a camera usually works in one app at a time.

The C920 lists the same 1080p at 30 fps without the 60 fps mode; for 4K or 1080p at 60, see the Brio 4K test. Check the microphones with the microphone test.
