Postal employees get 26 pay dates in 2027, every other Friday from Friday, January 15, 2027 to Friday, December 31, 2027. Pay period 01-2027 covers the two service weeks from Sat, Dec 26, 2026 to Fri, Jan 8, 2027.
What this page sets up
The calendar opens on the Postal Service payroll: every other Friday, each pay date one week after its two-week pay period ends. Pay periods start on a Saturday and end on a Friday, which is one day earlier than the Sunday-to-Saturday periods most federal agencies use. The first pay date of 2027, Fri, Jan 15, 2027, pays for Sat, Dec 26, 2026 to Fri, Jan 8, 2027, the period the Postal Bulletin numbers 01-2027.
Pay period numbers
The Postal Service numbers pay periods by the year they’re paid in, starting from 01 with the first January pay date. That’s the same count as the # column in the table on this page, so row 12 is pay period 12. The last period of a year can reach into the next one: the Postal Bulletin’s 2026 table ends with pay period 27, December 12 to 25, paid on December 31, 2026.
Timekeepers see each pay period as two service weeks, which is how the Postal Bulletin prints them: week one and week two, each Saturday to Friday. The pay period column here shows the full fortnight; switch it off in the form to get a plain list of pay dates.
Holidays and pay dates
The table below lists the 2027 bank holidays and any pay date they move. Most federal holidays are Mondays, so only the fixed-date ones can move a pay date: New Year’s Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Veterans Day or Christmas, in a year when it falls on a Friday. The pay date then moves to the Thursday before. These are the Federal Reserve’s bank holidays, not a list of the days post offices close, so check your own office’s schedule for time off.
Using the calendar
Print the one-page PDF for the break room or your locker, or add every pay date to your phone with the .ics file. Choose the next year to plan ahead: the cycle runs on in two-week steps. Many other federal employees are paid on the same Fridays but for Sunday-to-Saturday periods, as the federal pay period calendar shows; agencies paid by NFC get Monday deposits on the NFC calendar. For a different schedule, start from the pay period calendar.
