Add your logo
The page opens with a sample coffee-cup icon on the Logo tab. Replace it in one of three ways:
- Your logo: drop a PNG, SVG, JPG or WebP file. It is read in your browser and never uploaded; it isn’t put in style links either.
- Icon: fourteen simple line icons (Wi-Fi, link, mail, phone, location, calendar, shop and more), drawn in the code’s color.
- Emoji: pick one or type any emoji.
Then set the Size and the Backing: a rounded square, a circle or a square plate in the background color, or none. A plate gives the logo breathing room and keeps the code’s edges crisp around it.
Why the modules are cleared, not covered
A reader decides whether each module is dark or light. A logo pasted over the code leaves half-covered modules around its edge that can read either way, from one phone to the next. This generator removes every module the logo and its margin touch, so the gap reads consistently as light: only the dark modules that were there need repairing, roughly half of them, and the modules around the gap stay sharp. It never clears the three corner squares, which the reader needs to find the code.
Error correction and size
With a logo the error correction level is fixed at High (about 30% recovery, per the QR code standard ISO/IEC 18004). That budget also covers smudges, glare and a curved bottle or cup, so leave part of it unused. Keep the link short: at High a long address pushes the code to a bigger version with smaller modules. Print a code with a logo at least 2.5 cm (1 in) wide.
When you are done, check the line under the preview. Scans reliably means several readers decoded it, including a small, blurred copy. If it says risky, make the logo smaller first; a simpler module shape is the next fix.
How much a logo covers
Measured on the example link above (version 4, high error correction, a rounded backing plate). Each row clears the modules under a centre logo of that width and compares them with what error correction can rebuild.
| Logo width | Data modules covered | Share of the repair budget used |
|---|---|---|
| 15% of the code | 6.1% | 24% |
| 20% of the code | 10% | 40% |
| 25% of the code | 15% | 59% |
| 30% of the code | 20.9% | 83% |
Above roughly 75% of the budget the scan check flags the logo as too big, because the rest has to cover smudges, glare and a curved surface.
