Video to PNG Sequence

Every frame of a clip as a lossless PNG, numbered in order so editors and 3D tools import it as one image sequence. It all runs on your device.

Choose a video or drop it hereMP4, MOV, WebM or MKV. Frames are extracted on your device, never uploaded.

This page opens in Every frame mode with PNG output and File names set to Image sequence: every frame between From and To becomes clip_000001.png, clip_000002.png and so on, lossless and at the video’s full resolution.

Why a PNG sequence

An image sequence is how compositing, animation and VFX software prefers to take footage. Every frame is a separate lossless file, so nothing is re-compressed when you paint, rotoscope or colour one frame, a crash never corrupts the whole clip, and a render farm can work on frames in parallel. PNG keeps the decoded frame pixel for pixel (8 bits per channel), which is also what AI upscalers, frame interpolators and dataset tools expect.

This page extracts every frame, not a sample: the tool decodes the video in order with your browser’s WebCodecs decoder and saves each frame it shows, including the B-frames that some quick tools skip or duplicate. The numbers run 1, 2, 3 with no gaps, so a sequence importer sees one continuous clip.

Setting the range

Set From and To around the part you need. “Use current time” copies the preview’s position, snapped to the frame on screen, so the first PNG is exactly that frame. The plan line under the settings tells you how many images you will get before you start; one run stops at 1,000 frames to keep memory in check.

Getting the files out

Press Download all (ZIP). The ZIP is stored without compression, which is the right choice for PNGs (they are already compressed) and makes it fast to create and unpack. Unzip into an empty folder before importing, so the sequence isn’t mixed with other files.

If you only need stills every so often rather than every frame, switch to Every N seconds. For a single exact frame, use Grab this frame, First frame or Last frame above the settings.
