Used a few labels already? Start at the first free one (or tap it in the preview). If the print lands a little off, move it here: a negative number moves left or up.

Print at 100% or Actual size, never “Fit to page”. Try the alignment test sheet on plain paper first.

Small labels, set up for you

Return labels are the smallest labels most people print, so the details matter more than on a mailing label. This page opens the label maker ready for them: your address repeated on every label, centred, with a little house to its left, on the 80-per-sheet 5167 layout. The label positions come from Avery’s blank 5167 template, so each address lands in the middle of its ½ × 1¾ inch label instead of creeping toward an edge by the bottom row.

Type the address once, the way it should read. Three lines suit this size best: a household line (a family name like “The Garcias” reads well), the street, and the town line with state and ZIP. The household line is bold unless you untick it under Text; ALL CAPITALS gives the plain uppercase block the Postal Service prefers.

Choosing a picture and an ink

Whatever picture you choose fills a small square at the left of every label, in the same colour as the text. For year-round mail most people pick the house; heart and star work for wedding thank-you notes and birthday invitations. In December, a tree or snowflake in Holiday red or Holiday green matches Christmas cards, and the leaf goes with Thanksgiving invitations. The dash prints text alone, which gives a long street name the label’s full width.

Getting 80 labels right first time

A shift of a millimetre is easy to miss on one big label and obvious across 80 tiny ones. Before using a real sheet, download the alignment test sheet, print it on ordinary paper and lay it over an unused 5167 sheet against a window: every outline should frame a label. If they’re all out by the same amount, put that amount into Move right by or Move down by and test once more. Then print the labels on the 5167 sheet with scaling set to 100%, and stick one in the top-left corner of each envelope.

Want bigger return labels? Pick the 60-per-sheet 5195 layout, or switch to Mailing list to print your address book on 30-up 5160 sheets.
