A large print word search needs more than a big font: it needs fewer squares, so each letter gets more room. This page opens with a 12 × 12 grid that fills the width of the page, Bold sans uppercase letters and the word list printed in large type below the grid. The 20 garden words (Tulip, Rose, Sunflower, Watering can, Bumblebee, Lavender and more) are hidden across, down and diagonally.
What makes it easier to read
- Bigger squares. On US Letter each square is about 14.5 mm wide, so the 24-point letters are never crowded together.
- Bold, plain letters. Bold sans has open shapes and no decorative strokes, so similar letters like O, Q and C stay distinct.
- No clutter. The name and date line is off, the word list sits directly under the grid, and nothing else is on the page.
Choosing words for a large print puzzle
The grid can’t be narrower than your longest word, so keep words to about 10 letters or fewer. Twelve to twenty words fit a 12 × 12 grid comfortably. If you add more, the page tells you which words didn’t fit; remove a few or allow a 13 × 13 grid. Topics with personal meaning work well: names of grandchildren, favorite flowers, places you’ve lived, or the songs of a favorite singer.
Printing tips
Print at 100% (Actual size), on plain white paper, at your printer’s best quality. A4 works as well as US Letter; switch it under Printing. The answer key follows on the next page with each word highlighted, so a helper can check the puzzle at a glance.
