Compress a Video for Email

Starts at 25 MB, the Gmail and Yahoo Mail attachment limit, with one-tap targets for Outlook and work mailboxes. Your video never leaves the device.

Choose a video to fit a 25 MB email attachmentMP4, MOV, WebM or MKV. Compressed on your device, never uploaded.

How big a video fits in an email (October 2026)

The attachment limit depends on the service you send from, not the one you send to, although a smaller limit at the other end can still bounce the message. The services’ own help pages, checked on October 26, 2026:

  • Gmail: 25 MB. A bigger attachment isn’t refused: Gmail uploads it to Google Drive and puts a link in the message instead. Work and school accounts on Google Workspace use whatever limit the administrator chose.
  • Yahoo Mail: 25 MB for all attachments together, for mail you send and mail you receive.
  • Outlook.com: 25 MB for the entire email, including its text and any inserted pictures, so leave a little room.
  • Classic Outlook for Windows: 20 MB by default for IMAP and POP accounts. Microsoft 365 work accounts allow 35 MB per message unless the administrator changed it, and an on-premises Exchange server 10 MB out of the box.
  • iCloud Mail: Apple Mail offers Mail Drop for bigger files, up to 5 GB, stored for 30 days.

Shrinking a video to attach it

  1. Pick the video above. It’s read and compressed on this device; nothing is sent to us.
  2. Check the target. The page opens at 25 MB. Press one of the buttons under the size chips if you send from Outlook or a work account.
  3. Trim what nobody needs. An email clip is usually watched once, so cutting the warm-up and the ending buys more sharpness than any setting.
  4. Compress, then attach the MP4. The tool aims slightly under the target and re-encodes if a result lands over it.

What 25 MB buys

At 25 MB, a one-minute clip gets about 3.2 Mbit/s, enough for sharp 1080p of most scenes. Three minutes leave about 1.1 Mbit/s, where 720p looks better than a soft 1080p, and Resolution on Auto makes that call for you. Past five minutes (about 650 kbit/s), consider splitting the video into parts and sending two emails, or a Drive, OneDrive or Mail Drop link.

Screen recordings of slides or a desktop compress far better than camera footage, so a ten-minute walkthrough can still look clean. For voice notes, extracting just the audio as MP3 takes about a tenth of the space.
