Checking a page before you post it on LinkedIn
Start from the live address in the Page URL tab. The request goes out with LinkedInBot’s user agent, so firewall rules, bot protection or a prerendering service that answers LinkedIn differently show up in the result. The LinkedIn card leads the preview list, the live preview opens on LinkedIn, and the LinkedIn’s sharing rules panel goes through what LinkedIn’s help article “Make your website shareable on LinkedIn” asks for.
The card LinkedIn draws in a post
When you add a link to an ordinary post, LinkedIn shows a compact card: a small image on the left with the title and the site’s domain beside it. The description doesn’t appear on that card, so the title has to carry the message. The image is cropped to fit that small frame. LinkedIn recommends a wide 1.91:1 picture; keep anything important away from its edges.
When the preview is wrong after you fix it
LinkedIn keeps the card it first fetched. Once this page shows the tags as you want them:
- Run the address through LinkedIn’s Post Inspector, so LinkedIn reads the page again.
- Compare its result with the card here. If they differ, the Crawlers panel often explains it, for example a cookie banner or a login wall served only to LinkedInBot.
- Share the link in a new post to see the updated card.
Pages that aren’t public yet (localhost, a preview deployment) can be checked with Paste HTML or the Bookmarklet; LinkedIn itself can only fetch them after they go live.
LinkedIn's published rules, as checked above
From LinkedIn Help: "Make your website shareable on LinkedIn", read on October 26, 2026. Once you check a page, the rules panel above tests it against every row a page's tags can break.
