From sheet to tree in three steps
- Set up the sheet. It opens on six round baubles for coloring, each with its own design. A teardrop or gift tag changes the outline; fewer per page makes each one bigger. One round bauble fills a page at about 7 inches (18 cm) across, while six share a page at about 2½ inches (6 cm) each.
- Decide what children do with it. With Coloring outline they get line drawings for crayons, felt pens or glitter glue. With Cut-out design the black shapes become windows in the ornament, tied in place by thin strips so nothing drops out.
- Print, trim, hang. Heavy paper works best. Trim each ornament around its outer line, make a hole through the small ring at the top with a hole punch or a pencil, and loop a ribbon through.
Ideas for a class or a family afternoon
- A sheet per child: with six different designs on a page, nobody has to fight over the star. Round shapes are the easiest for small hands with safety scissors.
- Names and years: type a name or this year on the Text tab; every ornament on the sheet then carries it in the lettering you choose, as an outline to fill in.
- Light catchers: print the cut-out version on colored card, back the openings with tracing paper, and hang a row of them in a window.
- Matching gift tags: switch to Gift tag, write who it’s for on the back, and tie it on with the same ribbon as the wrapping.
Before you press print
The heading of the PDF states each ornament’s size. Ornaments rarely need an exact size, but if they do (to fit a frame or a card), print without scaling and check the scale bar. For one big design instead of a sheet, switch What to print back to Stencil.
